About Rishikesh Yog Van

Yoga Van is located in the village of Tapovan, situated four kilometres from the main city of Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world. Our mission, through the wisdom of the ancient science of yoga, is to bring union to mind, body and soul. Our programs are aimed at increasing knowledge, bringing joy and peace, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. At Yoga Van we offer 100-hours and 200-hours Yoga Teacher Training, Yoga Retreats, and one-week yoga courses for beginner to advanced practitioners.

IMPORTANT: Yog Van normally only offers residential Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program registered through Yoga Alliance, USA. However, due to the current pandemic (COVID-19), Yoga Alliance has created a one-time-only exemption. They are temporarily accepting online training programs for the full certification. This has created an excellent cost-saving opportunity; you save on air travel and residential expenses, and are essentially only paying base tuition fees.

Our Aim

In this age, many are suffering; physically, mentally and emotionally! With uncertainty comes anxiety, depression and a lack of enthusiasm that can lead to an imbalance in all aspects of one’s life. In order to manage our life and our suffering, we need to bring balance or homeostasis. Our body has a natural way of maintaining homeostasis, however our external environment is always in flux, creating difficulty for our body to maintain that balance. At Yoga Van we guide and help our aspirants maintain physical, mental, emotional and spiritual balance. The programs that we offer are designed to help you delve deep within yourselves, and by so doing you radiate from within and disallow the negative external forces to dominate. The mind is our main tool that can effectively help maintain homeostasis, and the mind can be trained! At Yoga Van, in our Teacher Training programs and Retreats, we teach and guide you through the techniques of yoga and meditation - pranayama (breathing exercises), asanas (physical postures), mindfulness, and meditation to help sustain balance, or rebalance all aspects of your life. Once you have completed out TTC program you will be prepared to take this knowledge and disseminate into “your world”.

The vision of Yog Van is to help spread the wisdom of yoga around the world. Through our authentic teaching styles, we impart knowledge through the main paths of yoga - Bhakti (Devotion), Jnana (Knowledge), Karma (Action & Service), and Raja (physical, mental, and spiritual practices). We provide training in a traditional and authentic way, yet taking into account the modernity of lifestyles in both the east and west. Our aim is to help change lives around the world by imparting our knowledge of yoga to others. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word “yuj” which means “yoke” or “union”. We enable this union of mind, body and soul within individuals to ultimately bridge gaps within society in an effort to encourage peace and harmony.

How Can We Help You?

We live in an age of much suffering (dukha) in the form of physical, mental and emotional imbalances. These sufferings arise for a number of reasons, such as stress, anxiety, depression and over-work, which in turn lead to other physical illnesses such as high blood pressure and heart disease. Our programs (teachers’ training and retreats) are designed with all of this in mind, especially given such an eventful year, 2020, where many people are faced with challenging times and situations. We at Yog Van apply all the rich teachings of yoga (Raja, Jnana, Bhakti and Karma) to enrich your lives so that you can treasure the past, live in the present, and treat every next breath as the future.

Awdhesh

Awdhesh holds a one year diploma in Yoga and Naturopathy from Uttarakhand Open University, and a Masters Degree in Yogic Science from Uttarakhnd Sanskrit University, Haridwar. He is passionate about yoga and enjoys teaching ashtanga style. He has been teaching hatha and ashtanga yoga for seven years. Students say that Awdhesh is an amazing ashtanga teacher and at the end of their training they say they will remember two things, Ganga Jal (water) and Awdhesh's teaching style.

Kapil

Kapil Dev Bist was born in Darchula, Nepal. He moved to Rishikesh at the age of 17 to continue his academic education, and to study yoga and develop a deeper understanding of his own spirituality. He completed a Masters Degree in Yogic Science from Uttarakhand Sanskrit, University, Haridwar, India, and also graduated from H.N.B. Garhwal University, Rishikesh. Kapil received further training and mentoring in yogic sciences and tradition, yoga philosophy, Vedanta, and Tantra, under the guidance of spiritual gurus in Ashrams and Gurukuls in Rishikesh. Since 2008, he has been teaching Pranayama, Meditation and Hatha Yoga at yoga schools in Nepal and India.

Gokul

Gokul holds a Masters Degree in Yogic Science from Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India. He passed the reputable and highly coveted NET (National Eligibilty Test in Yoga) in India. Gokul also has a Bachelors of Science degree from H.N.B. Garhwal University, and a Masters Degree in Computer Application from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, India. He teaches at Swami Purnanand Degree College and has taught at several other yoga centers. Gokul enjoys teaching Philosophy and explaining spiritual development through philosophy as well as the science that is involved. With his science background and knowledge, Godul is able to teach Human Anatomy and Physiology with ease.

Devendra

Devendra’s unique teaching style is both focused and intense yet lightened with compassion, humour, and creativity. He believes that this balance of effort and surrender is the key to unlocking the awareness of one’s true nature. He is very knowledgeable in different asana styles and has a good command over hatha yoga. Devendra has been a student of yoga since the age of 16 and has been teaching for more than 8 years. He has a M.A.(yoga) and has completed certificates and diploma courses in yogic science. Devendra not only has strong determination in all that he does, but he is delightful and any student will treasure him as their yoga teacher!

Pankaj

Yogi Pankaj Badoni was born in the holy city of Rishikesh and has been teaching a variety of styles of yoga such including Hatha and Iyengar for the past ten years. Yogi Pankaj completed a diploma in Yogic Science from Shri Punjab Sindh Sadhu Mahavidyalaya, Rishikesh. He is very versatile and can adapt to any environment and teaching styles of yoga.

Guru Buddhi Prakash Ji

Guru Buddha Prakash Ji has a M.A in Hindi Literature & Yoga Philosophy from Haridwar and Agra Universities, and is a Kundalini & Meditation teacher at Avatar Yoga School. At the age of 7 years, he gained his first experience of Samadhi. He has forty years of teaching experience and a profound knowledge of Indian Philosophy, including Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra and Shiv Sutras. In 2015, Huru Buddha Prakash Ji was awarded the Yash Bharti Award by by the Chief Minister of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
